Former presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Prince Adewole Adebayo, has declared that he will remain in the party and has no intention of joining any other political platform.
Adebayo, who contested the 2023 presidential election under the SDP, made this known while addressing questions about his political future.
He explained that his political journey began with the SDP in 1991 when he was 19 years old and that his loyalty has remained unchanged since then. The politician dismissed reports claiming that the SDP was working for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
He stated that his political activities are strictly within the SDP and that any individual within the party who supports other parties does so personally, not on behalf of the SDP.
According to Adebayo, the party is currently being rejuvenated by a younger generation of politicians who are focused on reviving its founding principles of fairness, equity, and justice.
He noted that the SDP’s mission is aligned with the constitutional principles of good governance and the rule of law.
Speaking on Nigeria’s current challenges, Adebayo criticized successive governments for corruption, poor governance, and economic mismanagement, which he said have continued to hinder national growth.
He added that the SDP remains committed to issue-based politics and to restoring public trust through transparent and ethical leadership as the country prepares for the 2027 general elections.
