According to Piwuna, the temporary strike serves as a window for the Federal Government to finalize ongoing negotiations with the union over unresolved demands.

He directed all ASUU members across the country to suspend academic activities and withdraw their services starting from midnight.Piwuna accused the government of failing to show sincerity in meeting the union’s long-standing demands, which include better funding for universities, improved working conditions, and the implementation of previously signed agreements.

The union stated that the warning strike is a precursor to a possible full-scale industrial action if the government fails to address the issues within the two-week period.
