Timi Frank Urges Tinubu to Sack Service Chiefs Over Worsening Insecurity

Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, has urged President Bola Tinubu to dismiss Nigeria’s security chiefs following the continued killings and growing insecurity across the country.

Frank made the appeal in a statement on Sunday after the recent killing of soldiers in Borno State by suspected Boko Haram insurgents. He described the situation as a national crisis that demands immediate government action.

He said the increasing cases of bandit attacks, kidnappings, and insurgent activities show that the nation’s security system has failed. According to him, security personnel are losing their lives due to inadequate funding, poor welfare, and lack of modern equipment despite large allocations to the sector.

Frank accused those in charge of the security structure of failing to protect citizens, saying the funds meant for operations rarely reach the field officers or are used to purchase needed equipment.

He commended former U.S. President Donald Trump and Senator Ted Cruz for drawing global attention to the killings in Nigeria, urging Tinubu to take their concerns seriously and act swiftly to restore order.

Frank also faulted the Nigerian Senate for criticising Senator Cruz over his comments on Nigeria’s insecurity, describing the lawmakers’ response as misplaced and disappointing. He said the Senate should instead focus on using its oversight power to hold the executive accountable and ensure that security chiefs perform their duties effectively.

The former APC spokesman maintained that the continued failure to protect lives and property is a breach of trust, urging President Tinubu to act decisively before the situation worsens further.
