Residents of Dunukofia Local Government Area in Anambra State have declared full support for Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s re-election ahead of the November 8, 2025, governorship election.The endorsement took place during the community’s annual New Yam Festival, “Iweife-Ubi,” held at the local government headquarters in Ukpo.
The event drew large attendance, including traditional rulers, political leaders, youth groups, women’s associations, and members of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). Governor Soludo attended the occasion alongside his wife, Dr. Nonye Soludo, and Deputy Governor Onyekachukwu Ibezim.
During the rally, the people of Dunukofia pledged their continued loyalty to APGA and made financial contributions to support the governor’s campaign. Governor Soludo thanked the community for their strong backing since the 2021 election and assured them of more developmental projects in his next term.
He said his administration has focused on education, healthcare, and infrastructure, noting that over 8,000 teachers have been recruited and that many public schools now perform better than before. He promised that more roads, hospitals, and community projects would be delivered if re-elected.
The event also featured the commissioning of the new Dunukofia legislative building. Soludo praised local leaders for supporting grassroots governance and said his government has restored the local council system to make it more responsive to community needs.
President-General of Ukpo, Cyril Ezewulu, described Soludo as a capable leader and said Dunukofia would deliver full votes for him. The council chairman, Clement Ozumba, commended the governor for his infrastructural works, including the construction of roads and smart schools in the area.
Other speakers, including Commissioner for Lands Prof. Offornze Amaucheazi, market leader Mrs. Chinyere Obidi, and youth leader Joseph Okafor, praised Soludo’s youth empowerment initiative “One Youth, Two Skills,” saying it has created job opportunities for many young people in the community.The day also featured a farmers’ competition, the conferment of chieftaincy titles, and the presentation of cash donations to support Soludo’s campaign.
Many residents described the governor as a leader who has transformed the state and expressed confidence that his second term would bring more development to Anambra.
