Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State has stated that he does not share the separatist ideology of Biafra, saying he believes the Igbo people and Nigeria need each other for progress.

Soludo made this known during a televised interview on Sunday, where he restated his position on the agitation for an independent Biafra. The governor explained that while he does not support secession, he is open to discussions aimed at shaping a better future for the South-East region within Nigeria.

He said that once the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, is released from custody, he plans to hold talks with him to explore an alternative path for the development and unity of the Igbo people.

Soludo, who is seeking reelection as Anambra governor, stated that dialogue remains the best way to address the grievances in the region. He maintained that he respects the right of citizens to peacefully demand Kanu’s release but believes in finding common ground through discussion rather than separation.
The renewed conversation follows the ongoing nationwide protest led by activist Omoyele Sowore, calling for the unconditional release of Nnamdi Kanu.
The IPOB leader was rearrested in Kenya and has since been detained by the Department of State Services in Nigeria.
