Wike Flags Off Construction of New 632-Bed Hostels, Announces Law School Auditorium Project

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has launched the construction of 632-bed capacity hostels for students of the Nigerian Law School, Bwari Campus, Abuja, while also revealing President Bola Tinubu’s approval for a new auditorium at the institution.

The ceremony, held on Monday at the Law School premises, marked the beginning of a project aimed at improving accommodation and learning facilities for students.

The new hostels will provide 316-bed spaces each for male and female students.Wike explained that President Tinubu approved the additional auditorium project after discussions about the inadequacy of the existing one to accommodate the school’s growing population.

He said the President’s decision showed his continued interest in advancing legal education and providing better infrastructure for the Law School.The minister recalled that the hostel project was part of a promise made by President Tinubu in December 2024 to ease accommodation challenges faced by law students.

He assured that the project would be completed within twelve months and delivered without delay or cost variation.Wike commended the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), for his collaboration in improving the justice sector through various reforms, including the digitisation of FCT High Courts.

He also praised the Director-General of the Nigerian Law School, Prof. Isa Hayatu Chiroma (SAN), for his leadership and role in ensuring continuous development within the institution.

In his address, Prof. Chiroma expressed gratitude to President Tinubu, the Attorney-General, and the FCT Minister for their continuous support of the Nigerian Law School. He said the hostel project would ease the school’s accommodation burden and enhance students’ welfare.

He also commended Wike for his longstanding contribution to legal education, recalling his role in establishing new campuses in Port Harcourt and Yenagoa and supporting staff housing and transportation.

The flag-off event was attended by senior officials of the Federal Ministry of Justice, members of the Council of Legal Education, and top management of the Nigerian Law School.
