ADC Blames APC for Fire Outbreak at Ekiti Secretariat

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of being responsible for the fire that destroyed its state secretariat in Ado-Ekiti on Monday.

The party alleged that the attack was planned to intimidate opposition parties and weaken their structures ahead of the 2027 general elections.

According to the ADC, the early-morning incident occurred a few hours before its planned reconfiguration and affirmation event, which was meant to strengthen its political presence in the state. The party described the fire as part of a growing trend of attacks on opposition offices and members in different parts of the country.

It claimed that similar assaults had taken place in Kaduna, Lagos, Kebbi, Kogi, and Edo states since July, when the opposition coalition adopted ADC as its main platform.

The party listed past attacks, including the disruption of meetings, assaults on members, and threats to party leaders.The ADC said the repeated attacks show a clear pattern aimed at creating fear and silencing alternative voices in the country’s political space.

It called on security agencies to investigate the incidents and ensure those responsible are held accountable.
