Lead counsel to the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, Kanu Agabi, has withdrawn from representing him in court.

The decision was made known on Wednesday after Agabi informed the court that Kanu had taken back control of his case.

All the Senior Advocates of Nigeria who were part of the defence team also withdrew from the case, a move that Kanu personally confirmed during the court session.Following the development, Kanu informed the judge that he would be representing himself for the time being.

When the court offered to assign him a lawyer, he declined the offer, insisting that he would continue on his own for now.Addressing the court directly, Kanu argued that the trial lacked proper jurisdiction to proceed against him.
The development marks another twist in the long-running legal battle involving the IPOB leader, who is facing terrorism-related charges brought by the Federal Government.
