The decision was reached on Thursday after a meeting of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) in Abuja. The committee said the expulsion was the outcome of months of investigation and disciplinary action taken against the affected officials.

According to the party, the disciplinary process began after Gabam, Uchechukwu, and the National Auditor, Clarkson Nnadi, were suspended on June 24, 2025, over alleged financial wrongdoing and misuse of power.

To ensure fairness, an independent disciplinary panel was formed on July 4, 2025, to investigate the accusations and present its findings.

After reviewing the committee’s report, the NWC adopted a White Paper on August 15, 2025, which paved the way for the expulsion of Gabam and Uchechukwu. Nnadi, however, resigned before the final decision.

Eight other members were also expelled for alleged disloyalty and illegal entry into the party’s national secretariat in July, where they were said to have been caught with sensitive materials and documents. The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Rufus Aiyenigba, said the action was taken to restore discipline, order, and transparency within the SDP.

He added that the decision takes immediate effect and reaffirmed the NWC’s commitment to accountability and adherence to the party’s constitution in its internal management.
