The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will continue to face defeats in future elections if it fails to address its internal crisis.

Wike made this known on Friday during his monthly media chat in Abuja, where he spoke about the state of the opposition party and the ongoing wave of defections. He described the situation as embarrassing and warned that the PDP’s troubles were self-inflicted.

According to the minister, the party’s leadership ignored several warnings about looming problems, which have now become evident. He said the current developments within the PDP are proof that the foundation issues he previously raised were never handled properly.

Wike, a former Rivers State governor and one of the party’s most vocal figures, stated that he had predicted the ongoing crisis long before it began. He added that the defections of key members and the disunity within the party show that his earlier concerns were valid.
He maintained that until the PDP resolves its leadership and structural problems, it will continue to lose political ground across the country.
