The Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as its only consensus candidate for the 2027 presidential election.
The decision was reached during a meeting held on Saturday with party leaders and executive members from all levels — ward, local government, and state.
According to those present at the meeting, the endorsement followed what members described as the president’s outstanding performance since taking office in 2023. Lawmakers and party officials expressed confidence in Tinubu’s leadership, saying his government has made progress in economic reforms, agriculture, and security.
During the gathering, party leaders urged members to remain united and avoid internal divisions that had previously weakened the APC during past elections. They noted that cooperation among members was essential to secure victory in future polls.
Former Zamfara State Governor and APC leader, Abdulaziz Yari, called for reconciliation within the party, urging members to set aside differences and work together under one structure. He praised the president for policies aimed at reducing food prices and improving security across the state.
Yari also assured farmers that the government would make agricultural tools more accessible in the next farming season while commending ongoing efforts to curb banditry and criminal activities in the region.
The endorsement by Zamfara APC comes as early political alignments begin to take shape across Nigeria ahead of the 2027 general elections. Similar moves by other state chapters of the party are expected as preparations intensify for Tinubu’s possible re-election bid.
President Bola Tinubu, who assumed office in 2023 after the tenure of former President Muhammadu Buhari, is currently serving his first term.
