The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Ebonyi State has dismissed reports alleging the suspension of some of its prominent members, including the 2023 governorship candidate, Chief Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii.

The party described the reports as false, noting that those behind the claims were impersonators posing as officials of the state chapter. It clarified that the party currently has no functional State Working Committee, which means no group has the authority to suspend members or make official decisions.

According to the party, the leadership crisis in the state chapter stems from the nullified congress allegedly organised by the former Southeast Zonal Chairman, Chief Ali Odefa. The Federal High Court had earlier ruled that the congress was illegal and affirmed Odefa’s expulsion from the party in separate judgments delivered in November 2024 and October 2025.

The PDP stated that it is now working closely with its National Working Committee to fix new dates for congresses in line with court directives.
The party urged the public to disregard any announcement of suspension made by individuals claiming to speak on its behalf, insisting that such persons have no legal standing within the PDP structure in Ebonyi State.
