The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has announced the postponement of the Ekiti State gubernatorial primary earlier scheduled to hold on Saturday, November 8.

The postponement was announced in a letter sent to the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Joash Amupitan. The letter was jointly signed by the acting National Chairman, Abdulrahman Mohammed, and the National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu.

According to the party officials, the exercise was put on hold due to logistics challenges that made it difficult to proceed as planned. They stated that a new date for the primary would be announced later after necessary arrangements are completed.

The letter also confirmed that the commission had previously been notified about the scheduled primary before the recent change. The development comes amid ongoing divisions within the PDP over leadership control and internal alignment, as different factions continue to operate under separate authorities.
The faction led by Mohammed and Anyanwu is one of the groups currently contending for control within the party, maintaining loyalty to Wike, who has remained a central figure in the ongoing crisis rocking the opposition party.
