The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Moshood Jimoh, has reaffirmed that activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, remains wanted for allegedly attempting to incite public unrest in the state.

Jimoh stated this during a meeting with social activists at the command headquarters in Ikeja. He noted that although Sowore’s lawyer contacted the police about how he could surrender, the activist has yet to appear. The CP emphasized that there is no time limit for arresting a wanted person and that police officers across the state have been instructed to detain Sowore wherever he is found, except in court.

He clarified that no court order had been issued to prevent the police from arresting the activist, insisting that the constitution empowers him to act in the interest of public safety and order.

The police commissioner warned against any attempt to block major roads like the Third Mainland Bridge under the guise of protests, saying such actions endanger lives, damage infrastructure, and disrupt the economy.
During the meeting, activist Segun Awosanya (Segalink) supported the police, stressing that some individuals misuse activism for personal gain, creating instability and making law enforcement’s work harder.
This is the third time the Lagos Police have declared Sowore wanted over his alleged plan to mobilize protesters to block the Third Mainland Bridge during demonstrations against demolitions in Oworonshoki. Sowore has dismissed the declaration as unlawful, arguing that only a court can issue a valid warrant for arrest.
