The Peoples Democratic Party has confirmed that its national convention will take place on Saturday in Ibadan. The clarification came on Thursday in Abuja after a meeting of key party stakeholders.

The Chairman of the 2025 National Convention Organising Committee and Governor of Adamawa State, Umar Fintiri, spoke to journalists after the meeting. He explained where the meeting held, who attended, what was agreed, and why the party is moving ahead with its plan.

The meeting took place at the Bauchi State Governor’s Lodge in Asokoro, Abuja. Those present included members of the PDP Governors’ Forum, the National Working Committee, and the Board of Trustees. Top party leaders such as Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, PDP Acting National Chairman Umar Damagum, and National Publicity Secretary Debo Ologunagba were also in attendance. Former Senate President Bukola Saraki was present as well.

Others at the meeting included former Minister Tanimu Turaki, who is the consensus choice for national chairman at the upcoming convention. Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, Chief Emmanuel Ogidi and several other party figures were also seen at the gathering.
Fintiri explained that the stakeholders discussed many issues concerning the convention and reached joint decisions. He made it clear that the party is fully prepared and will proceed to Ibadan for the event without any change in schedule.
The convention is expected to bring together delegates from across the country as the party prepares for new leadership choices and future political plans. The meeting in Abuja was held to align positions before members head to Oyo State for the main gathering.
