The Bauchi State Civil Service Commission has suspended four top civil servants over allegations of serious misconduct in the course of their duties. The decision was made during a plenary session of the commission and was announced in a statement issued by the commission’s Public Relations Officer, Saleh Umar, in Bauchi.

The affected officers are Garba Hussaini, a Director in the Education Department and former Provost; Haruna Umar, a Deputy Director in Administration and Human Resources; Umar Yusuf, the Chief Executive Officer in charge of Accounts who also served as Bursar; and Mohammed Usman, a Chief Clerical Officer who worked as a Cashier. All of them were attached to the Bill and Melinda Gates College of Health Sciences Technology in Ningi Local Government Area.

Following the decision, the officers were placed on half of their monthly salaries starting from October 28, 2025. The suspension will remain in force until the commission completes a full investigation into the allegations against them. The commission said the action was taken to remove the officers from their duty posts and allow the investigation to proceed without interference, in line with state public service regulations.

The commission also approved the promotion of 21 other civil servants who were found qualified for advancement. Those promoted include officers in library services such as Deputy Chief Librarian, Assistant Chief Librarians, and Principal Librarians, as well as officers in administrative roles such as Assistant Chief Executive Officer and Chief Confidential Secretary across various grade levels.
The Chairman of the Civil Service Commission, Dr. Ibrahim Muhammad, restated the commission’s commitment to upholding discipline, transparency, and fairness within the state’s civil service. He expressed concern over the poor attitude of some workers toward established rules and warned that such behavior would continue to attract disciplinary action. He advised public workers to understand and follow official guidelines in their daily work to avoid future sanctions.
The commission also recalled that in September, two senior officials were dismissed for forgery and falsification of official records, as part of ongoing efforts to promote accountability and integrity across the Bauchi State civil service.
