The Peoples Democratic Party has appointed Honorable Francis Orogu as the acting national vice-chairman for the North-Central zone following the recent internal reshuffle of party officials. The decision came during the party’s 610th National Working Committee (NWC) meeting in Abuja on Tuesday.

Orogu, who previously served as the secretary of the North-Central Zonal Executive Committee, takes over the position temporarily after Abdulrahman Mohammed, the former vice-chairman, was expelled during the PDP national convention held in Ibadan on November 15 and 16. Mohammed now serves as acting national chairman for the faction aligned with the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike.

The NWC has asked members of the party in the North-Central zone to cooperate with Orogu and support his leadership as the party works to resolve ongoing internal disputes. The move is intended to maintain cohesion within the party amid a period of factional tensions.

The Forum of State Chairmen of the PDP also expressed support for the Turaki-led NWC, describing the 20-member leadership team as a stabilizing force for the party. The forum credited the PDP governors for contributing to party stability and acknowledged Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde for hosting a smooth national convention in Ibadan.
Orogu’s appointment will last until a substantive vice-chairman is elected for the North-Central zone. The party continues to manage its internal processes while attempting to maintain unity and organizational stability across all regions.
