The Senate approved the nomination of Ayo Omidiran as the new Chairman of the Federal Character Commission. She was confirmed alongside Peter Eze from Enugu State and 36 other nominees serving as commissioners, representing all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. The confirmation followed a detailed vetting process in which nominees submitted required documents, underwent background checks and appeared before the screening committee for evaluation.

Senators reviewed the credentials of each candidate, including their education, personal records, and compliance with integrity guidelines. The committee reported that no criminal complaints were found against any of the nominees and recommended them for confirmation. A voice vote in plenary confirmed all names unanimously.

Peter Eze was particularly recognised for his understanding of the FCC’s mandate and vision for reform.
