Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has left the Peoples Democratic Party less than a day before the party was set to hold its governorship primary. His exit became known on Monday after a letter dated November 4, 2025 surfaced, confirming that he had stepped away from the party because of the ongoing crisis within its national leadership.

The governor stated that the internal problems in the PDP made it impossible for him to continue as a member. He noted that the party had given him the platform to contest and win previous elections, first as a senator representing Osun West and later as governor, but the current situation had forced him to take a different path.

The trouble in the party also affected the plans for the primary election. The Chairman of the PDP in Osun State, Sunday Bisi, said on Monday that the poll would no longer hold on Tuesday as planned. He explained that the party was dealing with a deep division that made the exercise impossible at this time.

Bisi also made it known that Adeleke was no longer seeking the party’s nomination for the next governorship race because of the unrest. His decision, along with the suspension of the primary, added to the confusion already surrounding the party’s activities in the state.
The development has left many party members unsure of what comes next as the PDP continues to deal with internal struggles ahead of the election season.
