Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, on Thursday met with the new Minister of Defence, Gen. Christopher Musa (retd.), in Abuja to discuss how to improve security across the state. The meeting took place in the minister’s office and was shared by the governor’s media team.

The governor visited the minister to build stronger cooperation as Plateau continues to face attacks and unrest. He said the new minister’s long years in the military would help the ongoing security efforts in the country. Mutfwang assured the minister that Plateau State would work closely with the defence ministry to restore peace.

During the discussion, the governor repeated his long-time support for creating state police. He admitted that some Nigerians fear it could be misused, but he said the country needs clear rules and joint agreement to make it work. He urged leaders and citizens to focus on finding real answers to the violence affecting communities instead of dwelling on past events.

The governor also praised Musa’s previous work as Chief of Defence Staff and said he believed the minister would bring discipline and experience into his new role. He added that the people of Plateau are ready for renewed cooperation to improve safety and unity.
In his reply, the minister welcomed the governor and noted that Mutfwang was the first public official to visit him since he took office. Musa promised to work closely with Plateau State to support ongoing security operations and to help reduce attacks in the region and across Nigeria. He also commended the governor for hosting the Plateau Unity Christmas Carols and Praise Festival, describing it as an event that brought communities together.
Both leaders agreed to continue working as partners as they search for ways to restore calm in Plateau and strengthen national security.
