Aliko Dangote has written to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission requesting an investigation into the Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, Ahmed Farouk, over alleged corrupt practices. The petition was submitted on December 16, 2025, by Dangote’s lawyer, Ogwu Onoja.

In the petition, Dangote accused the oil regulatory chief of living far above his known income as a public officer. He alleged that Farouk spent more than seven million dollars on the education of his four children in Switzerland, a figure he claimed could not be justified by the official’s earnings from years of public service.

Dangote also alleged that the head of the regulatory authority abused his position by diverting public funds for personal use. According to the petition, these actions have led to public anger and protests against the agency responsible for regulating Nigeria’s midstream and downstream petroleum sector.

The document reportedly included details of the schools attended by the children, payment records, and the beneficiaries involved. These details were said to be provided to assist investigators in checking the claims and determining whether public money was used improperly.
Dangote called on the ICPC to act without delay by investigating the allegations and prosecuting anyone found culpable. He stated that such action would promote accountability, rebuild public trust, and protect the image of the current government.
