Peter Obi has announced that he will be on the ballot in the 2027 general election and has no intention of accepting a vice-presidential position. Speaking during an X Spaces event on Sunday night, the former Anambra State governor made it clear that his political journey is focused on seeking the highest office.
He explained that his exposure to governance, business experience built from the ground up, and time spent studying leadership around the world were not meant to prepare him for a deputy role. According to him, he believes he has the capacity and knowledge required to lead Nigeria and deliver change.
Obi added that he is confident in his understanding of the country’s challenges and how to address them. He also appealed to Nigerians for support and prayers ahead of the 2027 race, saying his name will appear on the ballot and that he is ready to contest for the presidency again.
