Nyesom Wike has said that the leadership error made in Rivers State will be addressed in the 2027 general elections. He made this known while visiting the people of Khana in Bori, Khana Local Government Area, during a thank-you tour.
The minister explained that leaders are chosen to act in line with the wishes of the people and not to pursue personal interests. He added that the experience at the state level has taught important lessons and that the same error would not be repeated in the next election cycle.
Wike said his visit was not for political campaigns but to appreciate the people of Khana for standing by him and President Bola Tinubu, especially during the 2023 elections when many others were hesitant. According to him, their support has brought development to the area, including improved roads and the establishment of the University of Environment. He also noted that Ogoniland has received several federal appointments, with more expected.
He added that going forward, people in Rivers State would vote based on shared interest and unity rather than party lines, in line with the Renewed Hope agenda of the Tinubu administration.
Earlier, the lawmaker representing Khana, Dumnamene Dekor, praised Wike and President Tinubu for the progress recorded in Ogoniland. He said the people were proud of the minister and ready to follow his direction. He also assured that lawmakers from Rivers were fully in support of the president.
Speaking on behalf of women in the area, Barile Nwakoh thanked Wike for remembering Khana and said the support he enjoys across Rivers comes from his goodwill and concern for the people. She added that women in Khana were ready to support President Tinubu if he seeks another term.
The Chairman of Khana Local Government Area, Thomas Bariere, also thanked Wike for his continuous support, saying that positive changes have followed their backing of President Tinubu. He assured the minister of the continued loyalty and support of the people of Khana.
