The New Nigeria Peoples Party has removed the indefinite suspension earlier placed on Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, and has also appointed him as the party’s National Leader. The decision followed the review of a report submitted by a committee set up to examine allegations of misconduct raised against the governor in 2025.
The party leadership said the suspension was lifted after careful study of the committee’s findings. The decision was reached during an emergency meeting of the party’s National Working Committee, held in Abuja, with the involvement of the party’s founder and members of the Board of Trustees.
With the action, Governor Yusuf has regained all his rights and privileges within the party. He was also given the role of National Leader, which the party described as the highest position held by an elected official on its platform.
The party leadership called on the governor to use his new position to strengthen the party and build on its progress ahead of the 2027 general elections. It also praised his stance during the internal crisis that led to the suspension.
In the same statement, the party restated its earlier decision on the removal of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and his supporters from the party. The announcement was signed by the NNPP National Chairman, Dr. Agbo Gilbert Major.
