The All Progressives Congress on Saturday revalidated the membership of Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, during a stakeholders’ meeting held at the Government House in Ado Ekiti. The exercise formed part of the party’s ongoing nationwide electronic registration and revalidation programme.
The governor’s membership card was presented in the presence of party leaders and stakeholders at the event. The APC commended Oyebanji for his efforts in mobilising support for the party across the state, noting that his approach has encouraged many people to align with the party.
The Ekiti State coordinator of the e-registration programme and Commissioner for Youth Development, Gold Adesola Adedayo, led the technical team that carried out the registration. He said the smooth progress of the exercise and the large turnout of participants were linked to the governor’s personal involvement in encouraging people to join the party.
Adedayo said the inclusive political approach adopted by the governor has brought together leaders across different groups in the state, including former governors, and has strengthened the party’s presence at all levels. He urged party stakeholders to adopt the same open approach to attract more members and build stronger party structures.
He also praised party members and residents of Ekiti State for their response to the exercise, noting that registration activities were ongoing across the 177 wards in the state. According to him, data from the exercise showed a steady increase in new members, which he said reflected the party’s popularity in the state.
In his remarks, Governor Oyebanji described the e-registration and revalidation process as a useful step that would prepare the party for future elections. He appreciated the party’s national leadership, led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, for introducing the electronic system.
The governor called on residents of Ekiti State to take part in the registration exercise, saying the APC remains committed to reforms and policies aimed at improving the country’s economy and governance. He added that wider participation in the process would help strengthen the party’s position in the state and beyond.
