Fayose: Peter Obi Is the Only Force Keeping ADC Alive

Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has said that Peter Obi is the main driving force in the African Democratic Congress, ADC, ahead of the 2027 general elections. Fayose made this known on Friday while appearing on Politics Today, a political programme aired on Channels Television.
According to him, Obi remains the only active and visible figure giving relevance to the ADC, adding that other members of the party have little political presence. He explained that wherever Obi decides to go, the party involved gains attention mainly because of Obi’s influence and popularity.
Fayose also stated that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, no longer plays a strong role in national politics, describing the party as inactive. He, however, said Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, should not be blamed for the internal problems facing the PDP.
The former governor restated that he openly supported President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 election and has remained consistent with his stance. He added that despite his support, he is not a member of the All Progressives Congress and does not plan to join the party.
Fayose’s comments come amid ongoing political realignments as parties and key figures position themselves ahead of the 2027 elections.
