Labour Party Names Alex Otti National Leader

The party, through its National Secretary, Darlington Nwokocha, said the meeting reviewed the party’s condition, future plans and leadership structure. At the end of the deliberations, members agreed that Otti would take on the role of National Leader. The party also sent goodwill messages to its former presidential candidate, Peter Obi, after his move to the African Democratic Congress coalition, wishing him well in his political journey.
During the same meeting, the Labour Party confirmed former Minister of Finance, Nenadi Usman, as its National Chairman. The party explained that this step followed the Supreme Court ruling of April 4, 2025, which ended the tenure of Julius Abure as chairman. It called on the Independent National Electoral Commission to recognize Usman and Nwokocha fully in line with the court decision.
The party further stated that all congresses and its national convention would be conducted strictly according to its constitution. Members across the country were encouraged to take part actively in the process.
The Labour Party thanked its members and Nigerians for their support and trust, adding that it remains united and focused on building a country based on fairness, social justice and good governance.
