Rivers Ex-SSG Invited by Police Over Alleged Assassination Plot Against Wike

The Rivers State Police Command has summoned former Secretary to the State Government, Tammy Danagogo, for questioning following allegations of a plot to assassinate the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike. The invitation comes after a phone conversation linked to Danagogo was reportedly leaked and connected to a suspect already in custody.
Authorities say the conversation involved discussions about hiring foreign nationals to carry out the alleged plan. The intercepted call reportedly included proposals to seek financial support from the Governor of Rivers State, Sim Fubara, to fund the operation.
The police have previously arrested Pastor Tombari Joseph Gbeneol, based in Port Harcourt, in connection with the assassination plan. The alleged plot was uncovered after authorities monitored phone communications suggesting the recruitment of Israeli nationals for the act.
The state Police Public Relations Officer has acknowledged the invitation and is expected to provide official confirmation. The incident has drawn attention to security concerns and ongoing investigations into potential threats against public officials in Rivers State.
Police continue to investigate the matter as the former SSG cooperates with authorities to clarify his involvement, while officials stress that the case is under careful review to determine the extent of participation by all parties mentioned.
