ADC Launches North-East Congress Committee, Woos Jonathan, Saraki

The Nafiu Bala Gombe-led faction of the African Democratic Congress on January 11, 2026, in Gombe State, set up its North-East Zonal Congress Committee as part of efforts to grow the party and organise its internal processes.
The event was held under the supervision of the party’s national leadership and was presided over by Dr. Muhammad S. Muhammad. The party said the move was aimed at building strong structures in the zone and ensuring orderly congresses.
At the meeting, the party approved key appointments for the zonal congress exercise. Mrs. Patience Alex was named Chairperson of the North-East Zonal Congress Committee, while Abayomi Adekunle was appointed Chairman of the Zonal Appeal Committee.
The party also used the occasion to call on prominent political figures across the country to join its platform. Those invited include former President Goodluck Jonathan, former Senate President Bukola Saraki, Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, Abia State Governor Alex Otti, and Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
According to the party, the invitation is part of its effort to bring together experienced leaders who can contribute to rebuilding the country and promoting good governance.
The ADC said it remains focused on offering Nigerians a political platform built on accountability, fairness, unity, and development, while working to mobilise support across all regions for a new political direction.
