APC doors open for Kwankwaso — National chairman

The All Progressives Congress has said it is ready to receive the former presidential candidate of the New Nigerian Peoples Party, Rabiu Kwankwaso, if he decides to join the ruling party. The party’s National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, made this known while speaking on television in Abuja against the backdrop of fresh political movements in Kano State.
Yilwatda explained that although the APC is not currently holding discussions with the former Kano State governor, the party would not shut its doors against him. He said the APC remains open to political figures willing to align with its direction, especially at a time when several politicians are changing platforms.
His comments followed the recent defection of Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf from the NNPP to the APC, alongside lawmakers from both the state assembly and the National Assembly. The development has sparked debate and reactions across the state’s political space, with Kwankwaso also commenting on the situation.
The APC chairman also spoke on President Bola Tinubu’s frequent foreign trips, stating that such travels are part of efforts to attract investments, strengthen security cooperation, and reach bilateral agreements that benefit the country. He said the President’s long years of experience and global connections allow him to achieve in a short time what might take others much longer.
According to Yilwatda, these engagements should be seen as service to the nation rather than personal interests. He added that the ruling party remains focused on governance while managing the changing political landscape.
