NLC, TUC call off FCT protest, order workers back to duty

The Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress on Tuesday suspended their planned protest in the Federal Capital Territory and asked workers under the Federal Capital Territory Administration to resume their duties with immediate effect.
The decision followed an overnight meeting between leaders of the two labour unions, the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, and members of the Senate Committee on the Federal Capital Territory. The talks began late on Monday and continued into the early hours of Tuesday.
After the discussions, the unions agreed to halt the protest action and restore normal activities across all FCTA offices. As a result, workers who had been mobilised for the protest were instructed to return to their posts.
The suspension of the protest is expected to ease tension in the nation’s capital and allow government activities under the FCTA to continue without disruption while further engagements take place.
