The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, on Saturday cautioned governors and other political leaders who are backing Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, saying their actions would bring serious consequences. He spoke in Port Harcourt during the commissioning of the Rivers State Renewed Hope Ambassadors headquarters, which also includes a radio station, a situation room, office spaces, and vehicles.
Wike directed his message mainly at second-term governors and senior political office holders across the country. He said leaders who stand with those he described as disloyal would eventually face betrayal themselves. According to him, political actions have lasting effects, and those who support disloyal conduct would not escape its outcome.
Referring to his own political experience in Rivers State, Wike explained that although it took time for his successor to turn against him, other governors supporting betrayal would face a quicker fallout. He warned that such leaders would struggle when their chosen successors begin to oppose them soon after taking office.
The FCT minister also linked political loyalty to moral and spiritual responsibility. He said betrayal follows people who practice it and added that the current political situation in Rivers State reflects past decisions made by key actors.
Wike further stated that the facilities commissioned at the event would serve as a base for those who remain committed to President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda. He contrasted this group with political figures he accused of abandoning loyalty, insisting that actions taken today would determine future outcomes.
The event was attended by members of the Rivers State Renewed Hope Ambassadors and political supporters, as Wike continued to play an active role in the state’s political affairs despite the ongoing rift with the current governor.
