2027 Poll: Northern Support for Tinubu Non-Negotiable – APC Chair

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, on Thursday in Lafia, Nasarawa State, called on Northern leaders and residents to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, saying the region has gained greatly from his administration since 2023.

He made the call during a solidarity rally organised to show support for the President and Governor Abdullahi Sule.
Speaking at the event, Yilwatda said the current administration has carried out major projects across the country, with many located in the North.

He referred to road and rail projects linking parts of the region to other parts of Nigeria and neighbouring countries, as well as plans tied to agriculture, irrigation and power supply. According to him, these projects will boost trade, farming and economic growth in the North.

He said it would not be in the interest of the region to withdraw support from the President after such investments. In his view, backing Tinubu in 2027 is necessary to ensure the completion and continuity of ongoing projects.

During the rally, thousands of members from other political parties were received into the APC. Among them were Senator Aliyu Ahmed Wadada, Senator Philip Aruwa Gyunka, Deputy Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Muhammad Adamu Oyanki, and several former lawmakers and political figures.

Yilwatda also praised Governor Sule for development efforts across the 13 local government areas of the state. He listed projects such as roads, schools, health facilities and the state airport, describing Nasarawa as a growing state within the federation.

Governor Sule, in his remarks, thanked residents for turning out in large numbers. He said federal allocations to the state have increased under the current administration and added that the projects being executed in Nasarawa are linked to policies introduced by President Tinubu.

The Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma, also attended the rally. He commended both Tinubu and Sule for their leadership and used the occasion to inaugurate coordinators and ambassadors of the Renewed Hope Agenda across the three senatorial districts and 13 local government areas of the state. He urged them to mobilise support for the President at the grassroots level.

Other party leaders present, including former APC National Chairman Abdullahi Adamu, Minister of Women Affairs Imam Suleiman Ibrahim, Nasarawa APC Chairman Aliyu Bello and Umar Tanko Al-Makura, pledged to work with the newly inaugurated coordinators to strengthen support for the party.

The rally began at the State Secretariat along Shendam Road and ended at Lafia Square. It was organised by the Office of the State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Agenda in partnership with the State Ministry for Local Government, Community Development and Chieftaincy Affairs.
