2027: Obidients Kick Off Fresh Mobilisation for Obi in A’Ibom

Supporters of former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi have begun fresh mobilisation in Akwa Ibom State as part of preparations for the 2027 general elections.

The move was announced in Uyo by leaders of the Obidient Movement, who said the group is building its structure across wards and local government areas.

The mobilisation is also being directed toward the African Democratic Congress as the platform for the next presidential race.

The National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement Worldwide, Yunusa Tanko, disclosed that the group has started strengthening its grassroots network to avoid a repeat of the outcome of the 2023 election.

He said members are being urged to organise meetings at ward level, reinforce polling unit presence, and ensure proper registration and alignment ahead of the next poll. According to him, the movement is shifting from enthusiasm to planning and coordinated action as 2027 approaches.

Tanko called on supporters across Akwa Ibom to increase participation, from rural communities to urban centres, including campuses, markets and professional groups.

He said the aim is to unite members and prepare them for active political engagement. He added that the movement is not limited to one election cycle but is focused on changing leadership culture and giving citizens greater control over governance.

The coordinator explained that the decision to align with the African Democratic Congress is part of a broader plan to channel support into a recognised political platform capable of contesting power in 2027. He described the step as a practical move toward securing victory at the polls.

Tanko also warned against complacency, urging members not to remain passive. He said collective action, proper organisation and vigilance will be necessary in the next election.

He expressed confidence that Obi has the capacity and energy to lead the country and stated that the movement is committed to working toward his emergence as president in 2027.

The mobilisation in Akwa Ibom forms part of a wider national effort by Obi’s supporters as political activities gradually build up ahead of the next general elections.
