According to the PDP, the withdrawals appear to have been influenced by certain individuals claiming leadership positions within the party.

The party alleged that these actions were aimed at weakening internal opposition and benefiting the President ahead of future elections.

The PDP also linked the withdrawals to past expulsions of members who were trying to maintain the party’s independence.

The party warned that such forced or induced withdrawals undermine competitive elections and could affect voters’ trust in the democratic process.

PDP officials called on members and the public to be vigilant, asserting that the party remains committed to defending its autonomy and ensuring fair participation in the council elections.
