APGA Opens Nationwide E-Registration March 1

The All Progressives Grand Alliance on Friday in Awka announced that it will begin a fresh round of its electronic membership registration across Nigeria and the Federal Capital Territory starting March 1, 2026.

The exercise will take place in all 8,809 electoral wards at the same time and is open to both existing members and new applicants.

The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Ejimofor Opara, disclosed this during a press briefing at the party’s zonal headquarters in Awka.

He said the registration drive is part of efforts to update and digitise the party’s membership records ahead of future political activities, including the 2027 general elections.

According to him, the exercise is meant to clean up the party’s database, ensure accurate records and allow better planning and management. He said those who are already members are expected to validate their details, while new members are encouraged to register.

Opara explained that participants must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid National Identification Number. He added that a voter’s card and two passport photographs are also required to complete the process.

Registration can be done online through the party’s official website, through a designated WhatsApp number, or physically at the ward level where forms will be available.

He stated that new members will first receive a temporary membership slip before being issued a permanent membership card.

He also clarified that members who had already registered electronically do not need to register again, but those who have not uploaded their passport photographs should update their records through the provided platforms.

The party said it had earlier introduced an automated membership system in June 2024, becoming the first political party in the country to adopt such a process.

The new phase, according to Opara, is a continuation of that initiative and is aimed at strengthening internal party processes and improving access to membership data.

He said the party is targeting more than two million registered members nationwide and expressed confidence that the exercise will increase its presence across the country.

He also rejected claims that the party is limited to a particular region, noting that it has recorded electoral victories outside its traditional base.

Opara urged eligible Nigerians who share the party’s ideology to take part in the registration and join its fold. He added that any political alliance in the future should be based on shared ideas and principles rather than simply seeking to remove a ruling party from power.

The registration exercise is expected to run across all wards simultaneously as the party prepares for future political engagements.
