The New Nigeria Peoples Party has warned the Kano State House of Assembly to act carefully regarding the ongoing move to remove the state’s Deputy Governor, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo.

The warning was issued on Thursday in Kano through a statement released by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Ibrahim Karaye.

The party advised lawmakers to consider the current political developments in the state, including recent defections and shifting alliances, before taking any further steps on the matter. It stated that elected officials should not be pressured into decisions that go against their beliefs or political stance.
According to the party, the political atmosphere in Kano is already delicate and any action that could worsen tensions should be avoided.

It urged the state government and the House of Assembly to act with caution in order to prevent a political crisis that could disturb stability in the state.
The NNPP also stated that its members remain law-abiding citizens who respect the rule of law. It said party members should be allowed to express their political views without being subjected to intimidation, discrimination or any form of pressure.
The party called on authorities and political actors in the state to maintain fairness and ensure that political differences do not lead to actions that could harm democratic processes.
The warning from the party followed a decision by the Kano State House of Assembly earlier on Thursday to begin impeachment proceedings against Deputy Governor Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo. The lawmakers accused him of gross misconduct, abuse of office and breach of public trust.
The development has drawn attention within the state’s political environment as different political groups continue to react to the ongoing process initiated by the Assembly.
