Fubara Inspects Road Project, Fixes May for Inauguration

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara on Friday inspected the Agba-Ndele Bridge and the 14-kilometre Ndele-Omofo-Agba-Ndele Road project in Emohua Local Government Area and announced that the projects are expected to be opened in May 2026.

The visit took place during a tour of ongoing infrastructure works in the state.
During the inspection, the governor reviewed the level of work already completed on the bridge and the adjoining road.

The road project links several communities in Emohua Local Government Area and also connects parts of Abua/Odual Local Government Area in Rivers State.

Information about the inspection was provided in a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Onwuka Nzeshi. The statement explained that the governor expressed satisfaction with the progress made on the project since his previous visit to the site about a year earlier.

The Agba-Ndele Bridge serves as a connection between communities in the Abua section and those in the Emohua area. According to the governor, the bridge itself has already been completed, while work on the remaining stretch of road is still ongoing.

Fubara explained that the full benefit of the project will become clearer once the entire road linking Ndele, Omofo, and Agba-Ndele is finished. The 14-kilometre road is expected to improve movement between the communities and make transportation easier for residents and travellers using the route.

The governor also commended the construction company handling the project, Setraco Nigeria Limited, for the progress recorded on the site. He noted that the contractor had shown commitment to completing the project within the expected timeline.

During the inspection, Fubara disclosed that he had discussions with the contractors working on the road project. According to him, the contractors assured the state government that the remaining work on the road would be completed before the end of May.

Because the road section is still under construction, the governor explained that the official opening of the completed bridge would be postponed until the entire road project is finished. He said both the bridge and the road would be inaugurated together once the remaining construction work is completed.

The governor added that the ongoing infrastructure work is part of efforts by his administration to improve development across different parts of Rivers State.

He noted that the government is continuing projects that were already in place before his administration began and is working to improve infrastructure across the state.
