Ogun PDP Rejects Claim of Executive Committee Dissolution

The Ogun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has denied reports circulating online that its State Executive Committee has been dissolved. The party made this clarification on Friday in Abeokuta, where its leadership addressed journalists over the claim spreading on social media.

Speaking during the briefing, the chairman of the party in the state, Abayomi Tella, said the information about the alleged dissolution was false. He explained that the reports were created by individuals attempting to cause division within the party’s structure in Ogun State.

Tella stated that the current State Executive Committee remains the only recognised leadership body of the party in the state. According to him, those spreading the information do not have the legal or constitutional authority to dissolve the executive committee.

He explained that the leadership team currently managing the affairs of the party in Ogun State was properly elected and inaugurated on September 24, 2024. The chairman also noted that the executive committee had already received approval and recognition from the National Executive Committee of the party.

According to the state chairman, the claim about the dissolution was part of efforts by certain individuals to create confusion among members and supporters of the party. He said the information being shared online exists only as a rumour and has no connection with the official position of the party.

The party leadership therefore advised members, supporters and the public not to pay attention to the circulating reports. Tella urged party members to remain focused and continue supporting the party’s activities across the state.

He also warned that any attempt by groups or individuals to cause division within the party would be addressed through lawful measures. According to him, the party will not allow actions that could disrupt its unity and operations in Ogun State.

Tella added that the Peoples Democratic Party in the state remains committed to strengthening its structure and increasing its acceptance among residents.

He explained that the leadership would continue working toward the growth of the party and would not allow rumours or false information to distract it from its goals.
