On Wednesday in Ogun State, 20 out of the 26 members of the State House of Assembly declared their support for Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola’s bid to become governor in the 2027 election under the All Progressives Congress.
The endorsement was made public at the Iwe-Iroyin Secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, where the Majority Leader, Yusuf Sheriff Abiodun, spoke on behalf of the lawmakers.
The lawmakers based their decision on Adeola’s political experience and his contributions both to Ogun State and the country. Their support places him among the early figures gaining backing within the party ahead of the election.
Before this development, the same group of lawmakers had already shown support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second-term ambition in 2027. Their position aligns with that of several political leaders and groups across the country who have also declared support for the President’s re-election.
The endorsement by the majority of the assembly members reflects ongoing political alignments within Ogun State as preparations for the 2027 elections continue to take shape.
