Tinubu returns to Lagos after UK trip

President Bola Tinubu and his wife, Oluremi Tinubu, arrived in Lagos in the early hours of Friday after completing a two-day official visit to the United Kingdom. Their aircraft landed at the Presidential Wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport at about 1:15 a.m.

They were welcomed by senior government officials, including Lagos State Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat and the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila. Also present at the airport were Mrs Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu and other members of the All Progressives Congress.

The President is expected to remain in Lagos for the Eid-el-Fitr celebration before returning to Abuja to continue his official duties at the Presidential Villa.

During the visit to the UK, Tinubu and the First Lady attended a state banquet hosted by King Charles III and Queen Camilla at Windsor Castle. The President also held talks with the UK Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, at Downing Street.


The visit included the signing of agreements between Nigeria and the UK focused on port development and trade cooperation. These agreements are aimed at strengthening economic relations between both countries.


Tinubu had earlier left Abuja on Tuesday following an invitation from the British government, marking his first official trip to the UK since assuming office.
