Shettima Promises End to Insecurity During APC Gathering in Zamfara

Shettima said the Federal Government is making steady efforts to restore peace across the country and expressed hope that the current security challenges will soon reduce. He spoke during an event where Lawal and his supporters were officially welcomed into the APC.

The Vice President linked the governor’s move to the ruling party with efforts to improve collaboration among leaders, especially in states facing security threats. He also noted that the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu is working to protect lives and property nationwide.

Lawmakers also reacted to the development, with Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau stating that members of the National Assembly elected under the APC are ready to support the governor. He said cooperation among leaders would help address challenges in Zamfara and other states.

Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas described the defection as a turning point for Zamfara politics and urged residents to back the governor in his new political direction.

Governor Hope Uzodimma, who leads the Progressive Governors Forum, also welcomed Lawal, saying the move would benefit both the state and the ruling party. He assured that APC governors would work with him to improve governance in Zamfara.

The party’s National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, said the state is now fully aligned with the APC. He praised the governor’s efforts in infrastructure and formally handed over the party’s flag to him during the event.

In his response, Lawal appreciated the support he received from political leaders, including Bello Matawalle and Abdulazeez Yari. He promised to work with past leaders and focus on the development of the state under the APC platform.

The event brought together top political figures and supporters, marking a new phase in Zamfara’s political alignment as leaders expressed hope that unity within the ruling party would help tackle insecurity and improve governance.
