Tinubu’s support driving FCT project delivery — Wike

Nyesom Wike on Wednesday in Abuja said the steady progress of infrastructure projects in the Federal Capital Territory is largely due to the backing and close supervision of Bola Tinubu, who he said is focused on ensuring timely and quality delivery.

Speaking after inspecting several ongoing and completed projects across the FCT, the minister explained that the President’s involvement has helped maintain speed and standards in project execution. He noted that regular monitoring from the top has pushed contractors to meet deadlines and deliver work that meets expectations.

Wike said routine inspections by the FCT Administration also play a role in tracking the progress of projects, allowing officials to assess both the pace of work and the quality being delivered. According to him, this approach has helped ensure that projects are not only completed on time but also meet required standards.

During the inspection, he visited the Arterial Road S1 project stretching from Ring Road II to the Fire Service Station in Kaura District. He expressed satisfaction with the work done so far and said the project is expected to be completed and ready for use within the next five months.

He also inspected the extension of Obafemi Awolowo Way, known as the N5, which connects Gwarimpa, Life Camp, and Dape District to Karmo. He confirmed that the road project has been completed and is set to be inaugurated as part of activities marking the President’s third year in office.

At the Nigerian Law School in Bwari, Wike assessed newly built housing units for staff and confirmed that the 10 bungalows have been completed, furnished, and are ready for use. He also checked ongoing construction of student hostels at the institution.

While he expressed satisfaction with the progress of the female hostel, which is expected to be completed later in the year, he showed concern over the pace of work on the male hostel. He noted that both projects started at the same time but were not at the same level of completion.

However, he said the contractor handling the male hostel has assured that the project will be delivered between October and November.

The minister also disclosed that a new contract has been awarded for the construction of an auditorium at the Law School, adding that work on the project is expected to begin soon.

He maintained that the combination of leadership support, regular supervision, and commitment to delivery has helped the administration maintain progress across key infrastructure projects in the FCT.
