Supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Moro Local Government Area of Kwara State on Sunday endorsed President Bola Tinubu for a second term and also backed the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Salihu Danladi, for governor ahead of the 2027 elections.
The endorsement took place during a large rally held in Bode-Saadu, where party members, leaders, and residents gathered to show their position.
The event was organised by local party stakeholders to declare their support for Tinubu’s re-election and to push for Danladi as the preferred governorship candidate. Leaders at the rally said their decision was based on the need to continue the current administration’s work in the state and to ensure power shifts to Kwara North, which they said has not produced a governor since 1999.
Party figures at the gathering also praised Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for projects and policies carried out in areas such as infrastructure, health, education, and agriculture. They said sustaining these efforts requires a leader who understands the current system and can continue from where the governor will stop.
The stakeholders also called for the House of Representatives ticket in the area to be given to Moro under the APC, pointing to what they described as a lack of fair representation. They added that the region has consistently supported the party in past elections and should be considered in future political arrangements.
Speakers at the rally described Danladi as experienced and capable, noting his role in leading the state assembly without major conflicts and maintaining cooperation among government institutions. They said his leadership style and background make him suitable to take over after the current governor.
The gathering ended with party members restating their loyalty to the APC at both the state and national levels, expressing hope that their decisions would influence political outcomes in Kwara State as the 2027 elections approach.
