Stakeholders of the APC legacy group submitted three names to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf as possible replacements for the vacant deputy governor position. The nominees are Rabiu Sulaiman Bichi, Kabiru Alhassan Rurum, and Murtala Sule Garo, all described as experienced politicians with backgrounds in governance and public service.
The move followed the resignation of the former deputy governor, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, which created the need to fill the position. The group explained that the nominees were carefully selected based on their experience at different levels of government, including administrative, legislative, and executive roles.
According to the group, the next step involves security screening of the nominees to confirm their eligibility and ensure they meet the required standards. After this process, the governor is expected to carry out consultations at the national level to align with broader political interests.
Following these steps, a final candidate will be chosen and sent to the Kano State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation, as required by law. The process is expected to determine who will officially take over the role and support the state government moving forward.
