Jigawa Assembly backs Namadi for second term

On April 15, 2026, in Jigawa State, members of the State House of Assembly endorsed Governor Umar Namadi as their sole candidate for the 2027 governorship election, after passing a vote of confidence in his leadership during plenary.

The lawmakers reached the decision based on projects carried out across the 30 constituencies in the state, stating that the progress recorded under his administration should continue. They said their action was aimed at maintaining ongoing programmes and ensuring steady development.

The Speaker of the House, Haruna Aliyu Dangyatin, said the government’s activities in the last three years have improved the lives of residents in different parts of the state. Other members also spoke in support of the governor, describing his leadership as focused on development and public welfare.

They pointed to achievements in areas such as education, healthcare, agriculture, job creation, and youth support as reasons for backing him for another term.

According to the Assembly, many communities have benefited from projects including road construction, renovation of schools, expansion of health services, and assistance to farmers.


The lawmakers said they believe that continuing with the current administration will bring more growth, better living conditions, and increased opportunities for people in the state as preparations for the 2027 election begin.
