Lagos APC members allege plot to impose candidates ahead of polls

According to the group, the reported meetings were aimed at selecting candidates outside the agreed process, which they said goes against the party’s position on direct primaries. They argued that such actions could weaken internal democracy and deny party members the chance to participate fully in choosing candidates.

The members also pointed to past local government elections in the state, which they claimed were affected by similar issues, and warned that a repeat of such actions could create tension within the party.

They called on President Bola Tinubu to step in and ensure that proper procedures are followed. They said he has a history of supporting transparent party processes and should ensure fairness in the current situation.

The group added that any move to bypass due process could lead to resistance from party members, stressing the need for open and fair primaries.
