C’River to deliver 3m votes for Tinubu — Otu

Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State said on Saturday in Ikom, who spoke through his deputy, what the state plans to do ahead of the 2027 general elections, how the target will be achieved, and why the ruling party remains confident of victory. He stated during a mega rally at the Ikom Township Stadium that the state would mobilise and deliver three million votes to President Bola Tinubu in the next presidential election.

At the event, which gathered a large number of supporters, the governor said preparations had already begun, with a focus on encouraging residents across communities to register and obtain their voter cards so they can take part in the election. He noted that without proper registration, many supporters would not be able to vote, making mobilisation a key part of the plan.

He linked the support for the President to federal actions in the state, including efforts to address the long-standing oil well dispute involving Cross River and neighbouring Akwa Ibom, as well as ongoing and proposed infrastructure projects. These include a coastal highway expected to connect Calabar to Lagos and plans for the Bakassi Deep Seaport, which he said would help boost the state’s economy.

The governor also spoke about steps taken by his administration, including the release of funds to settle gratuities owed to workers, with a promise that more payments would follow before the middle of the year. He added that both state and federal policies are expected to improve economic activities and political stability in the state.

Other speakers at the rally, including senior government officials, described the mobilisation drive as part of a broader political structure built on grassroots participation. They said the movement had grown over the years and played a role in the emergence of the current administration, adding that it would continue to push for unity within the party ahead of the next elections.

They also pointed to ongoing efforts in areas such as road construction, agriculture, healthcare services, and investment promotion, saying these initiatives are already having an effect on residents.

Party leaders at the gathering urged members to remain united, avoid internal conflicts, and focus on strengthening support across the state as preparations for the 2027 polls continue.
