Fubara Backs Tinubu for 2027
Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara on Thursday in Port Harcourt called on Nigerians to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, saying the President should be given another term to continue his policies and development plans.

Fubara made this known while opening the meeting of the Southern Nigeria Traditional Rulers Council in Rivers State, where monarchs from the South-South, South-East and South-West gathered to discuss regional unity, peace and development.

The governor said his support for Tinubu was based on what he described as progress recorded by the current administration in areas such as infrastructure and economic reforms over the past three years. He said more could be achieved if the President is allowed to continue beyond his first term.

According to him, the administration’s development agenda has begun to show results, including major projects in southern Nigeria, and he urged Nigerians to unite behind Tinubu’s second-term bid.

Fubara said national growth requires continuity and maintained that keeping the current leadership would help sustain ongoing reforms and strengthen efforts aimed at rebuilding the economy and improving security.

He also used the occasion to call for stronger unity among southern states, saying cooperation among the region would help advance shared interests and improve the welfare of the people. He said working closely with the Federal Government would also help speed up progress in areas such as peace, development and economic growth.

The governor told the traditional rulers that their presence in Port Harcourt showed Rivers State was peaceful and stable enough to host major gatherings. He added that the meeting also reflected growing solidarity among the people of Southern Nigeria despite ethnic and cultural differences.

Fubara said traditional rulers remain important in governance because of their closeness to the grassroots and their role in maintaining peace in their communities. He urged them to continue supporting efforts aimed at promoting stability, security and development in the region.
He also called on the monarchs to use the meeting to discuss practical ways to strengthen peace and cooperation across Southern Nigeria while contributing to national unity.

The gathering brought together royal fathers from the three southern geopolitical zones and focused on the role of traditional institutions in promoting cohesion and regional development.

Fubara’s remarks come amid growing political discussions ahead of the 2027 general election, with alignments and endorsements already beginning to shape conversations around the next presidential contest.
