The Federal High Court in Abuja has postponed further hearing in the alleged financial misappropriation case involving former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello until May 6, 2026.

The matter came up on Thursday before Justice Emeka Nwite, where lawyers for both the prosecution and defence appeared in court. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission was represented by senior lawyer Kemi Pinheiro, while Bello’s legal team was led by Joseph Daudu.

During proceedings, the prosecution asked for additional time to respond to applications already filed by the defence. Bello’s lawyers, on their part, pushed for progress in the case and urged the court to consider issues already placed before it.

After hearing both sides, the judge shifted the matter to May 6 to give parties enough time to prepare and allow proceedings continue properly on the next date.
Bello is facing charges linked to alleged financial misconduct during his time as governor of Kogi State. He has continued to deny the allegations brought against him.
With the adjournment, attention now turns to the next hearing, where the case is expected to continue as both the prosecution and defence return to court.
